Thunderbird - FIx Graphics in Subject

After setting up Thunderbird on Ubuntu 18.04, I noticed the following issue:

In case you hadn't guessed, the issue is the massive french flag and burning flame.

This issue only appears to be affecting Ubuntu 18.04.

Steps

The workaround solution is actually quite simple. Just remove the noto color emoji font.

sudo apt remove fonts-noto-color-emoji

Now these messages will show up like so:
